FAQ

1

Who to refer to Marble

Who can I refer to Marble?

Marble works with any middle or high school student who is struggling with mild to moderate behavioral health issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, relationship issues and social skill development. Another way to think about it: You can refer anyone to Marble who you would normally refer to a local clinic.

What if my student or their guardian doesn’t speak English?

Marble therapists speak English and Spanish. We are working on adding support for additional languages.

What if my student doesn’t have a private place to join sessions?

Not every student will be able to join sessions after school. During our consultation call, we will ask the student if they have a private place they can use to participate in sessions. If they can’t, we’ll work with you and the student to determine an alternative arrangement (like offering sessions during the school day).

What if I refer a student to Marble and they aren’t a fit?

Most students struggling with low to medium acuity issues will be a fit for Marble but there will inevitably be cases where we are not a good fit. In those instances, we will do our best to find the student appropriate care with a provider that accepts their insurance.

How to refer to Marble

How do I refer to Marble?

Click here to get started by scheduling time with our team! We'll provide you with an account to refer and book appointments in a few clicks.

What happens after I make a referral?

We have a 15 minute consultation conversation with the family to answer their questions, collect insurance information and consent, and figure out the right next steps.

What happens after a consultation?

If the family wants to proceed, we’ll book them an intake appointment with one of our therapists.

Will Marble tell me when appointments are booked?

You can keep track of all of your referrals and appointments through the Marble counselor portal in real time.

How should I describe Marble to families?

Marble functions much like a virtual clinic but we are different in a few key ways: We have no waitlists, all of our appointments are virtual and we exclusively work with child and adolescent clients. And because we accept all insurances, care is often free or low cost for families.

What if I already refer to a local agency?

Many counselors tell us that agencies have monthslong waitlists. And if students do get into care, high clinician turnover at the clinic often undermines the therapeutic process. Marble offers access to care with no waitlists and expert clinician partners with decades of experience working with kids and their families.

3

Insurance & pricing

How much does this cost for students and families?

Marble accepts most commercial and Medicaid plans, so care is either free or low-cost for families, depending on the details of their plan. If they have a copay, we will always let them know the cost of care before treatment begins.

What if my student doesn’t have insurance?

We unfortunately cannot work with uninsured students.

What about consent and HIPAA forms?

We collect consent from guardians before seeing students who are under 18 and we encourage guardians to authorize information release as well, so we can share information about treatment back with you.

4

Working with guardians

Do you involve guardians in care?

We believe care is more effective when guardians are on board. We ask guardians to attend the consultation call as well as the intake, and we provide regular updates on how care is going. If they are interested, we also offer family therapy and plan to offer parent groups down the line.

5

Marble’s clinical model

Who are your therapists?

All of our therapists have extensive experience working with child and adolescent populations across various settings. They are licensed and vetted by our medical director, a psychiatrist with over 40 years of experience.

What kind of therapy will you offer?

We believe in the power of group therapy and so many students will be placed into a virtual group. That’s not for everyone, though, and so we also offer virtual 1x1 therapy as well as virtual family therapy.

Are appointments in person or virtual?

All of our appointments are virtual.

Is group therapy effective?

Yes! If you’re interested in learning more, here is a study conducted by the American Psychological Association on the efficacy of group therapy.

6

Collaborating with Marble

Can I speak with the therapist who is seeing my student?

In your referral portal, you’ll be able to get summarized notes from the therapist so you can see how care is progressing. If you have additional questions, we’re happy to put you in touch with the therapist who is seeing your student.

Is there someone I can call if I have questions?

Yes. You can call us at (332) 232-0200.
